MLA calls upon people to maintain work culture

Speaking as the chief guest at a one day 'Sericulture Awareness campaign cum Training programme' held at DRDA conference hall, old DC office yesterday, MLA Dr.V.Alexander Pao called upon the people of the district to maintain work culture towards building a prosperous and developed district.
The MLA maintained that a mega project like Sericulture is favorable to the soil and profession of the hill's people and has high potentialities in improvement of the economic scenario.
He also rued the poor work culture of people which is also the main reason the Government and Department is finding difficulties to promote sericulture in Senapati District.
He also appealed for joint efforts of the Farmers and Department for improvement in the upcoming 2nd phase sericulture project in Manipur.
On the occasion, the 47/Karong MLA candidly slammed some of the District Government offices for poor performance and lack of concerns for the people.
"Some of our departments are existing in name with no attendance or public service while some are indulging into active corruption, for which the media groups and pressure groups needs to pull their sleeves up to expose and punish those responsible", stated Dr.Alexander.
Particularly slamming the District Social Welfare Department for irregularities in old aged pension schemes where some young aged beneficiaries are enjoying against the Government's norms and some living persons still enjoying in the name of those expired beneficiaries, the MLA warned that, it is committed to punishing such unacceptable public offence.
The awareness campaign was also graced by H.Ginjamang Simte, Director of Sericulture and Rtd.Director R.Haba Pao as Function President and Guest of Honor respectively.
The Training programme formally kicked off with a key note address from Dy.
Director Kaiso Mao.
It was animated by A.Diliip Singh, DSO, Imphal West and conducted by H.Vikho Pao, F/O Sericulture.
Haba Pao praised the history of sericulture works in Senapati District, where many farmers benefited out of the sericulture products on large scale.
Director Simte also announced that, the 2nd phase which was expected to be sponsored by Japanese Government could not be materials due to law and order problem but funding from State's SPA's fund, NLCPR fund under DoNER Ministry and Ministry of Textiles is in the pipeline.
The Sericulture project according to officials, achieved 71% of its target wherein it has some 5000 beneficiaries with 15 technical centers and processing units based in Imphal.
Senapati has 64 units with its beneficiaries spreading all over the sub-divisions.
