Responding to a query why he is interested in politics as his active involvement in social movement is an established fact, Dr Ranjan said he would highlight faulty Government policies on preservation of the environment, wetland protection, Tipaimukh Dam and border issues.
conceding that intelligence agencies marking him for his involvement in various social activities in the conflict-ridden State is having certain mental barrier for him to highlight crucial issues, he said participation in issue-based politics might facilitate him to put up state issues and debate at the national level.
Regarding his choice for BJP, Dr Ranjan cited rising popularity of BJP at the national level, firm belief that issue-based politics would enable him to concentrate on social activities and highlight various issues concerning Manipur as some of the factors for joining the race to be nominated as the BJP nominee for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency.
Opining that one can embrace BJP if there is aspiration to indulge in issue-based politics and address ethnicity-related tension in the society, he also affirmed that inspite of no BJP legislator in the State assembly he is determined to campaign for people's support in a vigorous manner.
Dr Ranjan further expressed confidence that he would receive support of the masses in the realisation of his intention to promote sports as well as highlight various crucial issues of Manipur at the floor of the parliament.
Disagreeing with the concept that elections could be successfully contested solely on money power, he pledged to strive for promoting politics based on righteousness and justification of people's faith upon the representatives.
