JAC submits memorandum against murder : Auto drivers stage rally

The Joint Action Committee constituted against the murder of diesel auto driver Ayekpam Nabin of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai has submitted a five-point memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi this afternoon.
On the other hand, the OC of Thoubal police has issued a notification that if the body is not claimed by 1 pm of August 31, the same would be disposed off.
The body is presently lying at JNIMS morgue, where post mortem was conducted on August 29 .
Before the memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister, Meira Paibis and diesel auto drivers in their diesel auto-rickshaws took out a silent rally from Tera Keithel to Sagolband Salam Leikai.
From there, a team of JAC representatives led by its convenor Th Mangi proceeded to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister.

Once the representatives proceeded for the Chief Minister's office, the protest rally turned back to the starting point.
During the meeting with the Chief Minister, the JAC representatives urged to nab the killers of Ayekpam Nabin by August 31 and punish them according to law.
They further urged the Chief Minister to open police outposts at strategic points for protection of diesel auto-rickshaw drivers and van drivers.
The representatives also asked Ibobi to provide adequate ex-gratia to the family of Nabin and also a Government job suitable to educational qualification of any member of the bereaved family.
After listening to the JAC's demands, the Chief Minister assured that maximum efforts would be put in to translate the demands into action as soon as possible.
Subsequently the JAC has decided not to claim the corpse till August 31 and in the meantime, the JAC would protest demonstrations of various sorts.
Earlier in the morning, post mortem of the dead body was conducted.
