Imphal, March 29 2020:
When average people are busy surfing the internet and uploading personal videos on Facebook and Tiktok to kill time during the complete lockdown imposed to fight novel coronavirus outbreak, many have been left with no means to livelihood.
Ningthoujam Sunil is not aware of the novel coronavirus and he doesn't have money to buy food.
His concern is not the virus but livelihood.
A day's meal is what that matters to him, not social distancing.
Social distancing and lockdown is killing him gradually, not the virus, he said when he was told about the virus and the lockdown.

He only knew about the curfew which prevented people from coming to Khwairamband market.
With the empty streets and deserted market, he has no work and no means to earn a single meal a day.
"People are not coming to the market due to the curfew.
I cannot get money to buy food as nobody tells me to lift goods nowadays," Sunil said.
The quinquagenarian has been taking shelter in and around Imphal City for the last many years and he used to do available menial work like lifting goods for vendors in Khwairamband market to get a minimal wage for daily meal.
"I used to earn Rs 100 to Rs 200 per day by lifting the goods brought by vendors from their respective localities at Khwairamband for selling," he said.
When asked if the Government or others are giving him food and monetary assistance, he said Government authorities have not approached him so far.
Six generous youths had brought meal one night recently, he added.
"I have no family and the days to come, if the lockdown continues, will be tough for me," he said.
He, however, expressed hope that generous youths like the ones before and the Government will approach him and offer him shelter and food during the lockdown.
Sunil is not alone, there are many like him who are being hit the hardest by the lockdown.
It may be mentioned that besides the lockdown imposed by the State till March 31, the Centre had declared 21 day Nationwide lockdown to contain and prevent the spread of coronavirus that has killed more than 31,000 people worldwide.
