Thoubal, March 29 2020:
A drop-in-centre (DIC) set up at Thoubal Wangmataba is continuing its routine programme amidst the lockdown in the State to provide services related to prevention of HIV from one person to another, said a secretary of Youth Adventure for Rural Development (YARD), Thokchom Sudam.
The said DIC which was opened as part of the HIV/AIDS Targeted Intervention Programme of Manipur State Aids Control Society (MACS) is being run by YARD.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held at the centre, today, Thokchom Sudam continued that the DIC is being opened today even though the Government has imposed lockdown and curfew in the State, to ensure uninterrupted testing facility for HIV to the public at free of cost.
Hindering those who want to get tested for HIV, especially drugs users will lead to an increase in numbers of new infections, he added.
The phone numbers of DIC's staff are also attached on the wall of the centre to meet any emergencies, he informed.
The press meet was also attended by the project manager and peer educator of the centre.
