Noting that there cannot be social and political stability in the State in case educated youth of Manipur remain unemployed, the 28 Assam Rifles has taken up a special coaching programme to facilitate interested youth join the armed forces.
As a part of the paramilitary force's ongoing intiative to assist the youth join recruitment rallies, the AR unit under the aegis of 9 Sector has selected 24 young boys from Imphal and Thoubal district for relevant theory and practical courses for a period of three weeks, said a release.
Youth is a potent but untapped force in Manipur.
A high rate of unemployment exists in the state, particularly among the educated youth, maintained the release adding that the coaching will benefit the youth in understanding the requirement and criteria of a promising career in the armed forces.

The 28 Assam Rifles besides providing coaching for elementary knowledge on subjects like Hindi, English, Grammar, Mathematics, GK and current affairs will also give complete administrative support during the pre-coaching phase of the recruitment rally likely to be held sometime in January next year.
The release also refered to the Live Register of Employment Exchange wherein total number of educated job-seekers has been listed over 5,83,600 as on March 31, 2007 as against 5,48,700 of March 31, 2006 showing an increase of 6.37 pc over the previous year.
Moreover, 6,05,840 educated job seekers were recorded as on March 31, 2008, with an increase of 3.80 per cent over 2007 .
