If the state archives start recording Puyas and publishing it as books, it will help a lot in knowing the same, said Health and Family Welfare Minister, Pheiroijam Parijat today, speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of the 31st Archives Week Celebration cum Record Exhibition at Manipur State Archives complex, Keishampat.
Parijat said that people of today's generation find it difficult to read the original Puyas.
If the state archives translated the Puyas in the modern language then it will made easier to read and understand the Puyas.
People will be able to take the advantages of reading the valuable Puyas of the state which are stored in the Archives.
Organizing exhibition of such kind is very important.
People will get easy access to the valuable records through such exhibition, Parijat said expressing his desire to organize such exhibition in the different districts too.
Parijat stressed on the needs of collecting the ancient records of the relation between hill people and valley, the various kings of the different clans of the Meetei community.
He expressed his desire for the archives to collect settlement records from the Settlement Department and store it in the archives.
It is impossible to plan for the future without knowing past events, Parijat added.
In a speech as guest of honour, Director, Arts and Culture, Dr K Sobita said that the archives have many microfilms through which people of the state may take many advantages.
She also lauded the archives for collecting many records from Assam, Bengal and Delhi in its store.
She expressed her desire for the people of the state to communicate with the archives to get valuable knowledges.
Ex Minister, Professor Gangmumei Kamei, who was the president of the function, stressed the need of archiving ancient records in today's world.
He said that Meeteis and Burmeses are people who are craze with records.
Dr S Kriti talks on 'Donated Private Records and Books' while S Indramni talks on 'Public Records and Donated Manuscripts' as part of the inaugural function.
Chief Guest, Ph Parijat kicked off the record exhibition today.
The exhibition will remain open to the public from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm daily.
Chief Guest and President of the function released Seminar papers Volume-6 and Volume-7 as part of the celebration.
