Social Welfare Minister inspects rice distribution in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, April 25 2020:
To ensure proper distribution of PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and Open Market Sales Scheme rice to the people of Kangpokpi, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister inspected the distribution process today at various places in Kangpokpi AC.
The Minister inspected rice distribution at Upper and Lower Kalapahar, Keithelmanbi Ward No 1 to 10, Gopibung and Parsian villages.
The Minister also took the lists of cardholders and non-card holders in all the distribution centres.
"To ensure that everyone gets rice equally, I have bought sufficient rice in Open Market Sales Scheme and distributed it to the non-cardholders while the rice procured under PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was distributed to cardholders only", said Nemcha.
The Minister also assured that she will procure more rice if required.
The Minister came across people without maintaining social distancing at some distribution centre.
She instantly intervened and explained to them the importance of wearing a mask and following social distancing guidelines to the people.
At Lower Kalapahar distribution centre, the local MDC Milan Pradhan was seen personally monitoring the distribution of rice.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen cautioned all the FPS agents and authorities concerned to distribute and monitor the rice distribution accordingly as per the protocol and if any discrepancies or misuse occured, severe action will be initiate accordingly.
She also said that she will personally inquire about the distribution of rice and asked all FPS agents and other authorities concerned to be very careful while distributing the rice to ensure that no discrepancies occur in Kangpokpi.
Later, Nemcha Kipgen visited District Hospital Kangpokpi and handed over cotton masks developed and donated by Renu Handloom and Handicraft Co-operative Society Limited, Imphal East.
The Minister handed over 500 pieces of Renu's Mask to Dr Paotinlal Haokip, i/c Medical Superintendent for the health workers of the district.
She also handed over another 100 pieces of Renu's Mask to 'Mask Kangpokpi' volunteers.
