Stepping up its drive against corrupt officials under the Operation New Kangleipak, the proscribed outfit KYKL today shot six superintendents on their legs and punished two other women superintendent of various examination centres for allowing malpractices in the ongoing National Institute of Open School's class ten and twelve examinations.
Talking to media persons somewhere at Imphal East Dist today, a spokesman of the KYKL informed that its cadres had inspected various examination centres after receiving specific information that students were being freely allowed to use unfair means in some of the centres in the ongoing exams.
Based on the information, KYKL cadres inspected ten examination centres both in the hill and the valley and found some of the centres freely allowing the students to use unfair means, said the spokesman adding that higher authorities of the some of the centre had also taken a sum of Rs 4000/5000 each from the examination candidates promising them to help clear their exams.
Informing that some of the invigilators were also involved in distributing Xerox copies of answers of particular subject on the day of the examination, the spokesman said that students were also allowed to copy in side the examination hall and further added that some of the invigilators had even appeared the examinations for some of the students who failed to turn up.
Even though the authorities of the NIOS had assured repeatedly to conduct the exams in a free arid fair manner prior to the exams, everything is being done in just the opposite way, rued the spokesman.
The spokesman further stated that eight superintendent including two women of eight examination centres have been apprehended on the basis of the reports submitted by it cadres who had been entrusted to investigate the matter.
All of them were produced before the mediapersons today.
He further informed that the six male superintendent will be shot on the leg while the two woman superintendent will be let off with lashes.
The eight apprehended persons have been identified as RK Pramoda of Samasakhi Girl's H/School, Amom Sharatchandra of Singjamei Chingmakha H/School, Kh Yaima of Uripok Tondonsana, Divika Chingsubam of Shri Shri Guru Gobind College, Yumnam Bimol of Takhel Sanjenbam H/School, Md Suban of Lamphel H/School, Oinam Hemanta of Lilong Hr Sec School and P Chandrajini Devi of SS residential high School.
Meanwhile, six men shot at the legs and two women beaten up in connection with alleged graft charges by activists of the KYKL have been admitted tonight at RIMS Hospital for bullet wound treatments.
The six persons - all shot below the knees are Y Bimol (27), KhYaima (60), Md Suban, A Saratchandra (38), O Hemanta alias Ibnngo (30) and Ch Vivek (30) and the two women caned by the KYKL named as S Chandrajini(62)andRKPramo(60).
