Imphal, April 24 2016:
On the occasion of the 22nd raising day of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), the outfit's chairman N Oken, on behalf of the outfit, has greeted all the people of Kangleipak, WESEA and the revolutionary groups of the land.
A statement signed by N Oken alleged that India is a prison of several nations.
India is still a 'State-nation' not a 'nation-State' which means that the nation building process of India is still incom- plete.
The nation which would be built in India is a nation based on the culture and traditions of the Aryan people of the mainland where all other communities who are different from Aryan features would be assimilated.
Aryan and Dravidian groups of people may not find much difficulty in building a common nation for them.
But it would be intolerable for Mongoloid people of WESEA who are racially different if they are amalgamated into the common nation of the Aryans and Dravidians.
If the Mongoloid people of WESEA are converted into Aryans to become a part of India, then they are as good as extinct.
This is a slow but bloodless genocide, Oken asserted.
While some people are convinced that continued existence under alleged Indian occupation would mean extinction of the indigenous people of Kangleipak and accordingly started waging a war of liberation, majority of the people seem to have accepted the Indian rule.
"It appears that the degree incompatibility and conflict between our people and India has been steadily declining.
It is one of the contemporary period's most enigmatic riddle", continued the Chairman.
India's rule over Manipur is hegemonic and repressive as explained by Antonio Gramsci with regard to subordinate relationship shared between a powerful group and a weaker group.
A suppressed nation or group accept the hegemony imposed upon them not because they are forced but because a false consciousness has been somehow inculcated in their minds.
For this, the hegemonic power uses soft weapons and soft weapons include education, newspapers, TV, cinema, internet, social media, plays, dramas, dance, music, films, literature, religions, national songs, flags, map, insignia, law, prison, police, administration etc.
"It is these soft weapons which have imprisoned the conscience of our people.
These weapons are strengthened when the notion that Kangleipak cannot survive without depending on India is somehow ingrained in the minds of our people", Oken remarked.
Although Gramsci's 'hegemony' is taught in college/university text books, people of Kangleipak don't seem to understand it.
After taking control of Manipur's political rein some 67 years back, India has been building its hegemony over the people of Manipur.
After taking control of the political rein, India started manipulating the every day life of the people of Kangleipak and they (India) have almost achieved their objective.
By deliberately destroying all productive bases of Kangleipak, India has rendered it a land of unemployment.
At the same time, India has introduced a large number of people to a luxurious lifestyle which is not at all compatible to their sources of income.
As such, more and more people have given to earning money through deceitful and questionable means.
The tendency to earn huge money has heightened the level of corruption and graft practices.
This in turn led to alarming degeneration of people's ethics and ideal of life.
