Imphal, April 24 2016:
As the local MLA has been doing what he
desires only while taking up necessary steps for the implementa-
tion of National Food Security Act, people of Lamlai AC are now
apprehensive that they will not get equal benefit under the Act.
This was stated by BJP Manipur Pradesh executive mem-
ber and Lamlai Mandal leader Kh Ibomcha while speaking at
a press conference held at the Nityaipat Chuthek office of the
party.
He said that he heard that priority and non-priority cards
of NFS Act would be distributed to beneficiaries at Porompat
on April 26.
He alleged that local MLA and CAF & PD Minister Ksh
Biren had not given any information to Zilla Parishad mem-
bers and elected leaders of Panchayat and Municipal Councils.
No information regarding distribution of cards was given
to these elected leaders when they enquired to the authority
concerned as well, he said.
However, it is said that Ksh Biren had announced in a
meeting of his supporters held at his residence that the cards
would be distributed at Porompat on April 26.
This is the testimony of the Minister's dishonesty and his
plans to give benefit to a few selected individuals, he said.
As benefits under the Act must be given to 80 per cent of
the people of Lamlai AC, it is questionable how these cards
would be distributed at Porompat, he said.
As such, the Minister must arrange distribution of the cards
in consultation with the rural and urban local bodies, he said.
