As part of activities for promotion of tourism in the north eastern region of the country, the Union Ministry of Tourism has launched a North East Contest recently.
Those who win the contest will get a free trip for seven days with family of four to the North Eastern States.
The contest is open to Indian nationals residing in India and entries for the contest will be accepted only online.
Willing contenders have to click www.incredibleindia.org to enter the contest.
The contestant has to answer a few simple questions including � 1.Loktak Lake is situated in which North Eastern State? 2.Name the only Lake Palace of North East of India, 3.What is famous dance of Mizoram called? 4.Only place in India reputed for the mystery of the annual mass suicide by birds, 5.Name the trade route between India and China opened recently from one of the North Eastern States, and 6.Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on earth is situated in? Entries for the contest would be entertained till 31.3.2007 and winners of the contest will be contacted by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and will have to avail their prizes within the specified period.
The Ministry has started the publicity of the contest by means of multi-coloured display advertisement in national dailies.
In an advertisement appeared in the Hindustan Times today, a beautiful photograph of a indigenous footbridge in Arunachal Pradesh with a caption'Enjoy the View, Suspended in Midair' gives the attraction of the readers.
Describing the India's North East as 'paradise unexplored', the text says, "North East India is the land of Blue Mountains and Green Valleys.

In her address in the North East Tourism Ministers' Conference held in Guwahati on July 3 this year, the Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni had announced that Rs.200 crores would be spent to boost and promote tourism in the North Eastern States.
She also stated that tourism would play a vital role in creating job opportunities and employment generation.
