Murdered kid laid to rest

Imphal, May 21 2011:
The last rites of 4-year old Thiyam Roberoy alias Ton, whose body, after being murdered, was found hung inside the priestesses' rest room of Ibudhou Thangnarel located close to his house at Ningthoukhong Kha-Khunou Ward no.4 under Bishnupur district in the afternoon of May 18, was performed today.
On the other hand, local MLA Govindas Konthoujam has reportedly announced a reward of Rs 50,000 to anyone who can provide information that would lead to the arrest of the killers.
The body of the young boy, which had been lying at the mortuary of RIMS, was claimed by family members and other relatives.
After being taken to his native Ningthoukhong Kha-Khunou, the last rites of Roberoy was performed.
While the last rites was in progress, agitated local residents resorted to blocking traffic the Imphal-Churachandpur Road near Ningthoukhong Model High School.
Normal traffic flow was, however, resumed after the police arrived and pacified the agitators.
A spokesperson of the JAC formed in protest against the killing has informed that a meeting was held between the representatives of the JAC and Revenue Minister and Chief Minister in-charge Th Debendra yesterday.
During the meeting, Debendra gave his assurance of finding out the killers at the earliest possible.
In addition, Deputy Commissioner and Additional SP of Bishnupur district, who visited the bereaved family, too have given the assurance of doing needful for identifying the killers.
Accordingly, the family members decided to take back the body for performing the last rites, the spokesperson explained.
However, if the Government fails to produce the killers by May 25, the JAC would be constraint to go ahead with its decision of imposing indefinite blockade along the Imphal-Churachandpur road with effect from 6 am of the following day.
Informing that local MLA Govindas Konthoujam has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 to anyone who can provide informations that would lead to the killers, the spokesperson appealed to all the people to extend their co-operation with the police as well as the JAC in this regard.
