New Delhi, December 15 2014:
Petrol and diesel prices were on Monday reduced by Rs 2 per litre each.
This is the eighth reduction in the price of petrol since August and the fourth straight in case of diesel.
In Manipur the price of one litre of petrol will cost Rs 60.24 and diesel Rs 50.48 .
At Churachandpur the price of one litre of petrol will be Rs 60.25 and diesel Rs 50.49 while at Jiribam one litre of petrol will sell as Rs 60.65 and diesel at Rs 50.65 .
The revised prices will take effect from the midnight of December 15 and December 16 .
Fuel prices were last revised on November 15 when petrol rate was brought down by 91 paise per litre while that of diesel was slashed by 84 paise.
The downward reduction in fuel prices comes on the back of falling international oil prices.
Brent crude hit a fresh five-year low close to $60 a barrel on Monday, after oil producer group OPEC restated its determination not to cut output despite a global fuel glut, but the North Sea benchmark later rallied to trade around $63 .
The rupee, which plays an important role in the prices of the imported fuels, ended lower at 62.94 per dollar on Monday.
The Indian currency hit 62.95 against dollar - its lowest level against the greenback since January 28 - earlier in the session.
