Health Camps conducted at Border Villages

With the objective of providing healthcare facilities to people residing at remote border areas, the State Health Mission, Manipur organized Out Reach Health Camps at the villages of Chandel district lying at the border with Myanmar.
The four-day camp under guidance of Dr O Ibomcha, Director of Health and Mission Director of State Health Mission was conducted from December 12 last at PHSCs at Khengjoy, Yangoulen, New Samtal, Molcham and Khengjang villages in Chandel district.
The camp was held in collaboration with programme management unit of Primary Health Centre Moreh.
Altogether 1200 patients including children were given treatment during the camp held at five places.
Free treatment, provision of medicines, and distribution of sterilized mosquito nets to people residing at the far-off villages which do not have proper road connectivity were the main programmes of the camp.
On completion of the camps, Dr N Birachandra, Chief Medical Officer of Chandel district told the media that there is dire need to upgrade the health centres at the border areas in order to prevent the residents from contracting diseases spread from neighboring areas.
The CMO assured the media that necessary improvement works of the health centres at the border will be taken up in consultation with the authority.
