Imphal, July 14:
The non representation of Ukhrul district in the pruned Ministry has irked the people of this district no end and many have started questioning the motive behind the decision of the Chief Minister not to induct a single MLA from this dist in his Ministry.
The All Ukhrul Political Parties Front (UPPF) and a number of public leaders have-expressed their deep dismay over the manner in which Ukhrul district has been left out in the cold.
Ukhrul has three MLAs though only one, A Aza, is in the Congress.
A senior political figure of the district, H Sangam, said that the act of the Chief Minister is a clear indication of discrimination against the people of Ukhrul.
It is not fair to exclude Ukhrul and Chandel districts when Sadar Hills, which is not yet a full fledged revenue district is represented in the Council of Ministers, opined a number of political observers of the district, said SK Timothy, Chairman, Ukhrul District, Social Worker Forum (SWF).
All the talk about the integrity of Manipur rings hollow in the face of such discriminatory stand, he added.
