Braving the rain and wind, thousands of people came out on the street at Senapati dist headquarters today to demand the integration of all Naga inhabited areas as well as revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act.
Later a memorandum was sent to the Prime Minister.
Jointly organized by the Naga Students' Federation, All Naga Students' Association, Manipur and Senapati District Students' Association, the rally kicked off from Senapati Mini stadium and wound up at the Forest Gate of the district hqs.
Participated by about 5000 persons drawn from Senapati, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Chandel districts, the rallyists carried placards demanding the revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act and the unification of all Naga inhabited areas under one administrative unit.
After the rally, a public meeting was held which was attended by leaders from the Naga Hoho, NSF, ANSAM, NWUM, NPO, SDSA, SDWA etc.
Speakers at the meeting demanded the revocation of the AFSPA as well as the integration of all Naga inhabited areas under one administrative umbrella.
After the meeting a resolution was taken to demand the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act as well as the integration of all Naga inhabited areas.
