Assam Rifles DG calls on Governor, CM, briefs them on security

Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair, AVSM, YSM, DG Assam Rifles on Wednesday called on Governor La Ganesan at the Raj Bhavan and discussed the prevailing security scenario in the State.
The General Officer also briefed the Governor about the actions being taken by the Assam Rifles in coordination with other agencies, towards maintenance of peace & security in the State, said a statement of IGAR(S).
During the meeting, the Governor emphasized on the importance for maintaining close and effective synergy between Assam Rifles and other agencies and advised for heightened surveillance on all fronts to meet the security challenges in Manipur while lauding the untiring efforts of the forces in difficult conditions.
Later in the day, Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair met the Chief Minister N Biren Singh and apprised him of the actions being taken by the Assam Rifles in coordination with other agencies, towards maintenance of peace & security in the State.

The Chief Minister appreciated the untiring efforts of the forces in difficult conditions and complimented them for carrying out people friendly operations.
The DG also visited Manipur University and interacted with faculty members.
During the visit, the Director General was briefed by senior faculties of University on MoU signed with Assam Rifles for research work being done in the field of 'Conflicts Studies, National Security, Socio-economic and Cultural Fields' with focus on the NorthEast region and SouthEast Asia.
The General Officer lauded the efforts and appreciated the objective of the University to develop into the nodal center for educational learning, research and training in various fields in the North East region and to emerge as a benchmark institution of excellence.
Moreover, Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair also visited the field formations and forward areas of Assam Rifles in Manipur.
During the visit, the DG was briefed in detail by the various Commanders on ground about the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness.
The DG expressed his satisfaction on the security measures and operational preparedness of the Assam Rifles.
He complimented Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) for efficiently managing the security situation in the State.
The Director General interacted with the troops deployed in the forward locations.
He also appreciated the untiring efforts of the forces in difficult and inhospitable conditions and commended them for carrying out people friendly operations.
