The state electricity department has recovered an amount of Rs 1.570 crores as power tax during the current financial year till the month of May.
In May alone, it recovered a total of Rs.0.799 crores as power tax.
Official sources said new installation and replacement of energy meter have increased in 2000-2001 and 2001-2002.the number of energy meters replaced or newly installed in May this year was 684 while those during the 2000-2201 till May this year were 4030 and 15,128 respectively.
The source said completion of the skeleton works of the heavy fuel-based power project (6x6 MW) at Leimakhong is only a final touch away.
Most of the civil component has already been fitted, and the approach road to the power house building is completing shortly.
The BHEL has already received an amount of Rs.120.11 crores out of the total project cost of Rs.126 crores for the heavy fuel-based power project.
The source said six engines for the project have been already set on the foundations.
Five of these are now kept at the trial stage after having been completely fitted with components.
With the completion of most other works, five-ton ET cranes have also been procured.
It may be mentioned that target was set for inauguration of the project functioning within July this year.
