Imphal, August 04:
State BJP unit president M Bhorot today told the press that though the Union Home Minister has announced that the State Assembly would be dissolved the dissolution is unlikely to take place within this month.
Bhorot who returned from Delhi yesterday after pressurizing the Centre to withdraw the ceasefire extension from Manipur told The Sangai Express that the State MLAs emphasized upon the Prime Minister, Union Home minister and other political parties not to dissolve the State Assembly.
It was for the pressure mounted by the State political leaders that the Home Minister has not been able to officially announce the date of dissolving the Assembly even though he had announce in Parliament that the Assembly would be dissolve, said Bhorot.
The BJP leader further said that the 7th Assembly still has another three years to go and in the prevailing circumstances the Centre might reconsider their earlier decision and not dissolve the Assembly.
He said the demand of the Congress (I) to dissolve the Assembly and hold fresh elections soon may not be entertained by the Central government.
The Central leaders have already expressed their view point that repairing of the burnt Assembly Secretariat and numerous other government buildings will be taken up only after a popular Government is installed, informed Bhorot.
Meanwhile members of the Manipur State Assembly will be meting for the first time after the ceasefire crisis at the newly shifted office chamber of Speaker Dr S Dhananjoy, MLAs Guest House near Majorkhul on 7th August.
