5 power sub-stations inaugurated

Chief Minister O Ibobi has today inaugurated five power sub-stations in the capital area apart from launching an online energy billing portal of IED-I .
33/11 KV sub-stations at Kangla, Sangaiprou, Kakwa, Sangaipat and a 132/33 KV sub-station at Kongba were inaugurated today by the CM .
While regretting that adequate power could not be provided to the public, the Chief Minister, who addressed the gathering at Kongba, stated that the Government is putting all out efforts to ensure adequate power supply in all parts of the State.
Exuding confidence that the power sub-stations inaugurated today would go a long way in realising the power need of the people, O Ibobi urged all concerned to extend cooperation in the efforts of the Government to ensure adequate power supply to all parts of the State.
He further said that sufficient power supply could not be ensured due to meagre, 12 percent, State share in the Loktak Hydro Electric Project, and incomplete Loktak Downstream, Tipaimukh and other power generating projects in the State.

Even if completion of power generating projects are due, process for installation of 800 KV power line to import power from Silchar to Imphal has been initiated, the CM said while adding that power problem would be minimised if not solved completely if and when the process is done.
The Chief Minister has also appealed the public to use energy economically and to clear their bills regularly on time, which according to him, would pay dividend in the Government's effort to solve power problem.
Urging the people to make best use of power, Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing called on the people to shun the habit of unnecessary use of power.
An online energy billing portal of IED-I, http://energybill.man.nic was also launched today.
The portal will enable consumers instant access to information about their bills, payment status through the portal.
The CM was accompanied by Power Minister T Phungzathang, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai; Agriculture Minister Md Nasir; MLAs Amin Shah, Kh Devendra, Vungzagin Valte and Elangbam Chand; Comissioner (Power) Rajesh Agarwal and officials of Power department during the inauguration spree.
