Imphal, August 02:
Student activists of Manipur University Students Union (MUSU) attempted to stage a sit-in-protest demonstration in front of the Chief Ministers bungalow for the third time today in pursuance of the demand for lifting the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur.
Despite the stringent security measures being taken up around the Chief Ministers bungalow which has been fortified in the wake of unprecedented agitation including self immolation bid, 12 MUSU activists managed to penetrate the security shield and landed near the CM's gate at 4.30 pm today.
Security personnel posted near the gate instantly came forward and prevented the agitating students from holding demonstration.
But the University students remained standing there for sometime by holding up their hands, an act of surrendering themselves to be arrested by the police.
