Joining the world wide observation of "Mothers' Day" Chanura Lamjinglen Kangleipak observed the day in a simple function at Hotel Mass today.
Women's Development Co-operation's chairperson Ak Mirabai Devi, Editor's Forum Manipur, president S Bharatbhusan and Chanura Lamjinglen Kangleipak president Ksh Phajaton Chanu attended the fucntion as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the function, Mirabai while lauding the mothers for playing a crucial role in shaping the society said that modern woman who are caught between the waves of modernism and traditionalism should make sure that ones identity is not wiped out while modernising one self with the latest trends and ideas.
Asserting that the womenfolk have a great responsibility in ushering peace and development in our trouble torn State, Mirabai said that it would be a great pride for the mothers of Manipur if they are able to guide the younger generation out of the present mess afflicting the State and further said that the Mother day's celebration should be observed all over the State and on a longer period so that more awareness programmes could be conducted among the womenfolks on various fields.
Speaking on the occasion, Editor's Forum president Bharatbushan said that celebrating Mother's day by organising small functions is meaningless and the true goal of the celebration will only be achieved when one respects and honours ones parents.
