All out efforts are being made to trace and rescue two manipuris whose whereabouts remain unknown after they had entered Dimapur town on their way back to imphal from Guwahati on January 24, contended the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh while parrying off negligence accusation hurled by opposition MLAs in the ongoing Assembly session today.
Replying to a joint calling attention motion raised by MLAs Dr Nimaichand Luwang and S Chandra on disappearance of the two persons along with a loaded truck they were travelling, O Ibobi Singh, who holds the Home portfolio claimed that the Imphal West SP had sent messages to his Dimapur counterpart on February 2 to track the disappeared persons who reportedly crossed Dimapur check gate on January 24.The Chief Minister further informed the House of State Government getting unofficial report of the vehicle still stranded somewhere in Nagaland State but the exact location cannot be confirmed.
Earlier, drawing the attention of the Chief Minister, Dr Nimaichand Luwang questioned what measures had been initiated to trace the truck driver Md Salimuddin (35) of Yairipok Changamdabi and 13 year old Md Ayub Khan of the same locality.
The two were returning from Guwahati in the chicken-feed loaded truck (MN01/5781), recounted the MPP legislator who also expressed concern at lackadaisical attitude of the State authorities inspite of frequent disturbances faced by travellers and truckers along the Imphal-Dimapur highway.
Explaining on the issue, Andro AC MLA S Chandra said the class VIII student of Changamdabi Public School Md Ayub Khan had accompanied md Salimuddin to visit Guwahati.
He alleged that Imphal East police had not yet taken any concrete measure to trace and rescue the duo despite a report filed in the police station.
