Striking employees of the Manipur State Road Transport Corporation, MSRTC received an assurance from the authorities today on clearance of a major chunk of their pending salaries, and will be taking a decision soon on whether to end their ongoing cease work strike.
Talks on ending the strike were held this afternoon between representatives of the striking employee unions, and the transport secretary, S Budhachandra, and the MSRTC MD-in-charge, Ibobi Singh.
According to reliable sources, during the meeting, the government representatives unveiled the plans being contemplated by the government for the revival of the MSRTC to the employees.
The employees were also told that the government was seriously considering the possibility of release of at least 10 months worth of the 25 months' salary owed to the employees.
They were assured that as soon as the Governor-in-council approves the matter, the salaries would be released.
The employee representatives were also informed that the PR government was trying its utmost to carry through the implementation of the earlier decision to absorb some of the MSRTC employees in the transport and home departments at the earliest.
Sources said that the MSRTC employees would take a decision on whether to end their strike or not after discussing the verbal assurance regarding release of their salaries.
