Close on the heels of the attack on the ceasefire monitoring cell office of NSCN (IM) on October 24 last near here seriously injuring Pte Wungachan, a cadre of the Naga Army, one civilian was shot dead on Sunday evening at Chumukedima near here by the NSCN (K), alleged NSCN (IM).
The NSCN (IM)'s communiqu� issued by its "ministry of information and publicity" said three armed cadres of Khaplang group forcibly dragged out Hormi Tangkhul from the residence of Makhrietsu Angami, general secretary of the Angami Public Organisation at around 7.40 pm on Sunday at Chumukedima and shot him dead pumping four bullets into his body at point blank range.
It said that Hormi, (25), son of Phami of Riha village under Ukhrul district was an innocent civilian and was a driver of Makhrietsu.
The NSCN (IM) also condemned such act of killing unarmed person and termed the atrocious act as "bestial and barbaric" also stated that the incident proves that the Khaplang faction is targeting a particular community and attempting to ignite factional passion among the Nagas.
Stating that such acts are detrimental to the unity among the Naga people and could impede the ongoing peace-process, the communiqu� alleged that "the objective of this master plan is to deflect and squeeze down the Indo-Naga political issue from the highest (Prime Minister) level to Home Ministry level, labeling it to be a mere law and order problem as is the case of the level of ceasefire agreement reached and signed between the GOI and certain organization.
The overall analysis of such move indicate act of national treason of highest degree.
