Commander in chief of the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has extended warm wishes to the Kuki Army, fallen cadres, bereaved families, leaders of various Kuki tribes, Church leaders, social and political organisations, village, the general populace and all Khul-origin brethren on the eve of the UKLF's 10th raising day.
Invoking blessing as well as thanking the almighty for the care and guidance all through the 10 years of the Front's existence, the commander-in-chief SS Haokip in statement said 'since the acceptance of Kuki as undisputed common nomenclature by the constituent tribes there has been a challenge from a certain point of time due to over-possessive nature of certain Thadou-dialect speaking group(s), against which the UKLF has been striving tirelessly and relentlessly towards unification of all Kuki tribes since its inception'.
Asserting that UKLF firmly believes in the reunification of all the constituent tribes of Kuki on equal terms and status for unity and indomitable strength to achieve any meaningful political objective, the UKLF chief called upon all concerned to contribute their mite for materialisation of the objective.
Expressing remorse that Kuki society at the present juncture is being plagued by disunity, chauvinism and glorification of one's own clan or tribe, SS Haokip stressed that such narrow outlook needs to be uprooted for the concept is detrimental to the common people's aspiration for peaceful and cordial co-existence.
Calling upon the people to introspect contributions and sacrifices made by the Kuki forefathers, valiant soldiers of Kuki Army and cadres of other comrades-in arms, the commander posed should such supreme deeds and tearful prayers of widows and Church members be overlooked owing to presence of certain individuals and group of people who are self-centric and egoistic.
Urging the Kuki people from different walks of life to introspect, shed narrow outlooks and sink all difference that pose as hurdle to unity and establishment of a vibrant Kuki nation, he also reaffirmed on the occasion of the UKLF's 10th anniversary the outfit's commitment for re-unification of all Kuki tribes with renewed vigour and enthusiasm.
Remembering the aspiration of our people, their hope and faith being reposed on us, I urge upon all ranks and file of the Kuki Army (UKLF) to stride forward enduring all kinds of hardships and difficulties in the true spirit of patriotism with the highest order of discipline, responsive to the call of duty at all time, until our set goal is achieved, Haokip exhorted.
He also called upon other organisations and Kuki citizens to extent whole-hearted support to a feasible political demand for Kuki (Khul) Development Council in conformity to the principles of suspension of operation signed with the Government of Manipur and India.
