State education Minister, L Jayantakumar today called for a concerted effort to preserve the priceless culture and tradition of Manipur.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the State Level Holi Festival held at Gokulananda Mandop at Keishamthong Top Leirak here Minister Jayentakumar who was the chief guest said that in spite of its small size, Manipur has its own unique culture and tradition which every Manipuri is proud of.
This unique culture of the state is the identity of the state, Jayantakumar observed urging all section of the society for extending support in the preservation of culture.
The festival is organised by the Academy of Indigenous Music (AIM), Keishamthong Top Leirak.
Director of Art and Culture, Ksh Sorojini presided over the inaugural function in which assistant secretary, S Bedeshwor Sharma and G Gourakishore Sharma, Padama Shree Award winner attended as guests of honour.
Gourakishore, speaking on the occasion, expressed concern over the vanishing of cultures of the people of the state inherited from the forefathers.
The culture of the state is vanishing day by day.
This has led to the increasing disharmony among the people.
To preserve once own culture is a must for bringing harmony among the people.
Otherwise who can say unfortunate faith befalls in the society.
A concerted effort is a must among all section of the society to preserve culture for a peaceful society, he observed.
On the occasion, a souvenir on "Holi Festival" was released by the chief guest and Gourakishore, the Padama Shree award winner also honoured.
