Imphal, June 27:
Members of the Kuki Students Organization, Delhi, took to the streets in New Delhi today to register their vigorous protest against the GoIs decision to extend the truce with NSCN (IM) beyond the boundaries of Nagaland, and to demand its immediate withdrawal.
A release issued by DM Touthang and Jangkholam Simte, president and general secretary respectively of the KSO, Delhi, and faxed to IFP said the Indian governments attempt to extend the CF with NSCN (IM) without territorial limit is not acceptable to the Kukis as it is fraught with dangerous implications towards their very existence and their political and territorial interests.
Any territorial extension of the CF to other states in general and Manipur in particular would legitimize the NSCN (IM)s crimes against the Kukis and further jeopardize their interest and survival, it said.
The KSO, Delhi, pointed out that NSCN (IM) launched its ethnic cleansing campaign against the Kukis in 1992 so as to alter the demographic and territorial compositions in the vastly mixed settlements of the Kukis and Nagas in the hills of Manipur, Assam and Nagaland in favor of the Nagas.
