Thousands of people took part and offered floral tributes to Jana Neta Irabot on his 105th birth anniversary during a function organized by the Irabot Celebration Committee at Wangjing Tentha Kangjeibung on yesterday.
Ex-Ministers, public leaders and representatives of various communities of the State also participated at the function organized to remember the works of the great leader for the upliftment of Manipur.
Participants at the function also pledged for a harmony amongst the various community.
Meanwhile, the march past competition held to observe the 105th birth anniversary of Jana Neta Irabot at Ningthoukhong Bazar today was won by the Mangolnganbi College (Girls) in the senior category.
Kom Keirap Aimol H/School (Boys) and Ningthoukhong Girls H/School claimed the second and third spots respectively.
In the junior category, Public School (Girls), Public School (Boys) and Ningthoukhong Mamang Govt H/School won the first, second and third place respectively.
Students Federation of India, Manipur State Committee under the aegis of superintendent of Thoubal district Hospital organized a free medical camp at Yairipok Ningthounai Primary School to mark the 50th death anniversary of Jana Neta Irabot.
Free medicines worth over Rs 50,000 was also distributed free of cost to the needy persons.
Social Development Organization, Singjamei observed the birth anniversary of the leader by conducting a three day social service at Mayengbam Leikai.
Communist party of India, Khetrigao Local Council also observed the day by organizing a solemn function on September 23 at Rahamania School by honoring meritorious students of the Kendra.
