The state journalist fraternity has issued an urgent appeal to the underground United National Liberation Front, UNLF to lift the ban imposed on publication of the Naharolgi Thoudang daily newspaper with effect from September 30 at the latest.
This followed a joint meeting this morning of all journalists, editors and newspaper publishers working in the state, organized by the All Manipur Working Journalists Union, AMWJU.
The meeting after thorough discussion of the matter, and the various difficulties facing journalists in the state, appealed to the concerned underground group to allow the Naharolgi Thoudang to resume functioning by September 30.It was also appealed that a decision in this regard should be made known by September 28.During the meeting, it was also decided to accept the resignation of Naharolgi Thoudang editor and AMWJU president Thounaojam Biren Singh from his office.
