In connection with the death of a 53-year old woman who was taken to RIMS following complaints of abdominal pain and was tested positive for COVID-19, the Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) has urged the Government to disclose the truth behind the woman's death.
Speaking to media persons at Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai today, TUC president Pratap Leishangthem said that the particular woman was rushed to RIMS on October 12 following complaints of acute abdominal pain.
On testing, she was found infected by COVID-19 .
Instead of giving any treatment at RIMS, the woman was taken to COVID Care Centre opened at IIIT, Mantripukhri.
Maintaining that the woman died because she was not given proper treatment, Pratap said that the woman's body would not be claimed until the Government comes out with a clarification on the cause of her death.
Notably, the body is presently kept at RIMS mortuary.
On the other hand, RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof Ch Arunkumar said that the woman was taken away from RIMS in an ambulance after due information was given to the District Surveillance Officer as there was no vacant bed at RIMS COVID Ward.
