Imphal, October 15 2020:
Taking serious note of the soaring cases of COVID-19 infection at several localities of Imphal West and Imphal East districts, the district administrations have started mapping the affected areas for localised lockdown.
The mapping is being done to identify the localities which should be put under localised shutdown.
However, as of now, the localities which would be put under lockdown have not been identified, sources informed.
A reliable source however informed The Sangai Express that localised lock down may be enforced at Thangmeiband from Saturday evening.
There is as yet no official statement on this though.
Thangmeiband has had a number of infected cases.
Meanwhile, the Government has issued a framework which must be followed by both Government and private hospitals so as to provide healthcare services to COVID patients as well as non-COVID patients.
For routine check-ups and non-serious cases, patients would be encouraged through media to opt for tele-consultation and appointment system instead of going directly to hospitals, said the sources.
The framework lays down clear guidelines which must be followed by hospitals regarding hospital/healthcare set-up, human resources and testing.
Hospitals should arrange separate rooms/space for COVID-19 positive individuals and suspects, and hospital authorities must ensure that the COVID-19 positive individuals or suspects do not mingle with public.
COVID-19 positive persons should not be left unattended on the excuse that they should be taken to COVID Care Centres.
Instead, they should be registered and given necessary treatment, says the framework.
Patients who come to hospitals for treatment including those requiring emergency services should be tested for COVID-19 .
Two attendants of each patient who require admission should also be tested for the virus free of cost, it said.
