To solve the problem of waiting in long queues by elderly pensioners, senior citizens and other customers who come to transact money at the bank, the State Bank of India is all set to introduce e-token system in Manipur apart from opening up more ATM centres.
All these new developments were announced by the SBI during a joint meeting with the pensioners who are drawing their money from the three main branches of the bank located at Paona Bazar, Secretariat complex and Manipur University campus and the Chartered Accountants today.

The joint meeting held at SBI Secretariat Branch with Regional Secretary of SBI , SA Manipur Unit N Rana in the chair was attended by Chief Manager of SBI Paona Bazar Branch B Shyam, Chief Manager of Secretariat Branch Peter Adani and Chief Manager Peter Adani and Chief Manager of MU Campus Branch S Sengupta.
During the meeting, from their side, the pensioners requested for setting up more ATM centres, opening up of a separate counter in all the SBI branches for the pensioners and avoiding them from the ordeal of standing in long queue at the bank.
Taking serious note of the request, the SBI officials assured that e-token system would be introduced soon to ensure that the pensioners do not need to stand in long queue at the bank and installation of the machine is just awaited.
Once the system is in place, pensioners can come to transact their money anytime within 3 pm if they have been issued the tokens, the SBI officials explained.
While informing that a separate counter for the pensioners and other physically challenged customers has already been set up at the Secretariat Branch, the SBI officials also assured that similar counters would also be opened in other branches of the bank.
The SBI officials also disclosed that plans are afoot for opening up five new ATM centres of the bank in Imphal itself and the ATM centre at Thoubal would be made operational soon.
Announcing that a special loan scheme of the pensioners has also been introduced by the bank, the SBI officials also encouraged the pensioners to avail the loan facility.
At the end of the meeting, gifts were also presented to the pensioners from the side of the SBI.
