THE MARCHERS of the Manipuri Diaspora are leaving for their respective home tomorrow completing its peace march which kicked off from Silcher on December 29 last year said the convener of the co-ordination committee RK Ranendrajit who spoke at a press conference today.
Further speaking at the press conference, he also claimed that the objective of the organizing the peace march got to some extend.
Taking part in the press conference, the leaders of the march Y Diren and Sunil also lauded the people in valley and hills who extended helps while the marcher traveled a distance of 273 km from Silcher to Imphal.
They also said that in the march a 13 year old child took part as youngest one while a 76 year old was the oldest one.
They also credited the success of the march to the people who extended help in the entire journey.
Nongthonbam Bimol who was the liaison officer of the march recounted that the story behind the procuring of foods for the marchers in the entire journey.
He told the story of getting banana plant in hill costlier then in valley area.
Women leaders of the march, Thokchom Praba from Assam and Pramita from Manipur related the experience and difficulties they had faced while dealing with the unknown faces.
The marchers also promised that Manipuri will not be devastated no more.
They also praised the Manipur government, Assam government, individuals, Meira Paibis, resource persons and other who extended support in the organization of the peace march.
Mention may be made that the peace mass organised by the Manipur Levy '08 participated by around 500 Manipuri people from different part of the state and as well as outside the kicked off from Silchar in Assam and after covering the entire length of the NH-53 converged at Imphal and attended various function.
