MANIPUR IS all set to join the nationwide observation of the "Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight" to be held from January 15-31.To be organised under the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) the observation is to propagate the message of conservation of petroleum products which have a direct impact in the growth and economy of the country, stated Amarjyoti Bordoloi, Divisional Manager, Imphal and State Level Co-ordinator of Indian oil co-operation, Manipur.
Addressing a press conference for the same at the Divisional office, BT Road here, the Divisional Manager said that about fifty to sixty percent of the population of Manipur were aware of conservation of oil.
He however asserted that there was a need to observe the occasion for a mass awareness of the people.
The state of Manipur is also all set for mass observation of the said conservation programme, added Bodoloi.
He further informed that the observation which is aptly supported by the governor of Manipur, will be inaugurated at the Dhanamanjuri (DM) College, Imphal with the Food and Civil Supply (FCS) minister on the chair.
Prior to this inauguration, the governor will also give out the message on conservation of petroleum and their products through various electronic media, added the divisional manager.
Bordoloi also revealed that the observation will target mainly the students' community by organizing various forms of competition on the subject of conservation in schools and colleges level.
He also informed that mass awareness campaigns on oil conservation such as street corner campaigns, campaigns at oil pumps, distribution of leaflets, postering, bannering etc.
would be held at various places on daily basis during the fortnight observation.
Meanwhile, stating that about fifty to sixty percent of the population of the state are somehow aware of oil and gas conservation, Bordoloi stated the IOC is all set to take the mass fortnight campaign to all the districts of the state for full awareness.
The divisional manager also hoped that the campaign would bring a positive result in the state.
