The Secretary of the State Election Commission, Th Chitra has announced that by election to three Gram Panchayat seats in Thoubal will be held on December 8 and accordingly the SDO of Kakching has been appointed as the Returning Officer.
The by election will be held to 12/3 Wabagai GP unreserved of 12/3/12 Makha Leikai Maning GP Constituency, 14/7 Hayen Hungun GP unreserved of 14/7/2 Sanathel Mayai Leikai GP Constituency and 14/8 Sekmaijing Gram Panchayat (reserved for women) of 14/8/6 of Sekmaijing Khunou GP Constituency.
Candidates in the fray at 12/3 Wabagai GP include Ningthoukhongjom Sanajaoba, Laishram Nando, Lourembam Yaima and Sanabam Inaomacha.
At 14/7 Hayen Hungun GP, the candidates in the fray are Tularashi and Md Suleiman.
while at 14/8 Sekmaijing GP, the candidates are Irengbam Pakpi and Laishram Thembi.
The total number of voters at Wabagai GP is 455 including 247 women.
At the Hayen Hungun, the number of voters is 259 including 118 women while at Sekmaijing GP, the number of voters is 374 including 208 .
One polling station would be opened at each of the three GPs while 20 polling personnel will be deployed.
All security related measures have been entrusted to the SP of Thoubal police and State forces will be used.
Ballot papers will be used for the polling.
Counting of votes will be held on December 10 from 8 am at the office of the DC, Thoubal.
By elections were also supposed to be held in two other GP Constituencies, said Chitra but added that the results have been declared uncontested.
The two said GPs are 16/15 Serou KC in 16/15/4 Serou Bazar Awang Leikai (won by Hijam ongbi Roji) and 1/2 Pukhrambam of 1/2/2 Sanjenbam Maning Leikai (won by Thiyam Sova).
