The 13th Manipedicon 2009, a gathering of paediatricians of Manipur, was held at Classic Hotel here today with Vice Chancellor of manipur University Prof C Amuba and Director of Manipur Health Services, Dr W Motilal Singh gracing the inauguration programme as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
The duo also released Manipedicon 2009 souvenir and newsletter at the occasion where Prof C Amuba expressed that manipur today is passing through a critical phase.
Describing Manipur's situation as complicated, the chief guest pointed out that out of every 100 youngsters in age group of 17-21, 30 percent of them prefer to study outside the State owing to unfavourable academic atmosphere in Manipur.
The fact that younger generations are opting to leave their homes in pursuit of higher education, inspite of many compatible educational institutions here in the State, is a dangerous trend that needs to be checked as such a deflux means Manipur is gradually losing its energetic and ambitious component of the society.
Among others, president of IAP Manipur State Branch Dr H Ibemhal Devi and Director of Family Welfare Services Dr Sh Raghumani were also present at the Manipedicon observance which was organised by Indian Academy of Paediatric Manipur State Branch.
