The Army authorities have today refuted the contents of the article regarding hardship being faced by villagers of Churachandpur appearing in few vernacular dailies on 03 January 2005, the allegations are false and malicious with a view to malign the Armed forces said a PIB(DW)press hand out issued today.
This is to drive a wedge between the locals and the SF and also to delay return of normalcy in the area it said.
The control measures undertaken by the SF aim to deny militants means of sustaining themselves in the interiors.
Measures to ensure that the locals do not face hardship have been undertaken along with the district administration by the way organizing camps for distribution of ration and essential commodities.
In view of the festival season distribution of ration items on payment was organized in the area by the SF it further said.
A proposal for establishing a number of shops under the public distribution system is being looked into.
The SF have also undertaken a number of welfare projects in the area apart from the primary task of bringing normalcy in the area and freeing the local population from the atrocities being meted out by the underground organisations.
The major welfare measures undertaken by the SF include water supply scheme at Tuilaphai, extension of football ground, training to local youth for recruitment rally and medical assistance including free medicines.
