Imphal, January 03:
The Gauhati High Court has today maintained that the State Government should not evict six buildings including Hotel Excellency located along Sega Road without following due process of law.
Justice M Binoykumar, in his Imphal Bench sitting issued the order following two separate writ petitions, one filed by the proprietor of Hotel Excellency and the rest put up by the owners of five plots located in a row along the road.
Advocate S Jayenta, who appeared on behalf of the five said the petitioners are all pattadars.
Having witnessed the Govt dismantling some structures at Keishampat without issuing prior notices, the petitioners moved the Court with apprehension that their plots might be demolished in the same manner.
The Govt also puts marks on their buildings saying that the areas from such marks would be evicted within March this year.
