Imphal, August 01 2018:
Manipur State Council, CPI State secretary L Sotinkumar has accused the B JP led coalition State Government of putting the people at the receiving end of its failures in dealing with different issues, such as the Framework Agreement, the Border Pillar controversy, the MU impasse and the Citizenship (Amendment)Bill,2016.He said that the CM and his Council of Ministers are only trying to appease the Central Government leaders and as such, they will not go against the whims of the Central Government leaders even when the Central Government is working against the people of Manipur.
Speaking on the sideline of the launching function of the first phase of CPI's Nationwide campaign for highlighting the 4 years misrule of Narendra Modi led NDA Government which kicked off at the residence of Dr Okram Nobo Singh at Kongba Nongthombam Leikai today, Sotinkumar stated that the signing of the Framework Agreement between the Central Government and the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015 soon after the NDA Government came to power, triggered apprehensions among the people of the State.
Now the likelihood of Article 371 (A) being extended to select areas of Manipur as a result of signing the Accord has once again plunged the State into a chaotic situation.
Not only this the erection of Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar by encroaching within the territory of Manipur and the failure to remove the incumbent VC of MU, Professor AP Pandey have sparked unrest in the State, Sotinkumar said.
He alleged that the NDA Government is also trying to pass Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, which poses a grave threat to the indigenous people of all North East States, including Manipur, despite strong opposition from all other parties in the Parliament.
However, even at this juncture, the State Government led by Chief Minister N Biren has not raised anything against the Central Government leaders and is only trying to appease the Central Government leaders, he claimed.
The CPI leader also alleged that the NDA Government is working according to the desires of the corporate people/individuals and in the process have forced the farmers, labourers and the common people of the country to suffer enormously by introducing neo-liberal economic policy.
This has disappointed the people of the country as their expectation that "Acche Din" will be coming to the country with the advent of BJP Governments in the Centre as well as the States after the downfall of Congress rule, has turned out to be the complete opposite.
The BJP Governments are being ruled by RSS which works in the favour of Hindu radicalism and many injustices, including killing of many innocent people in the name of cow slaughter and smuggling, are being meted out in the country.
This nefarious act of BJP and its Governments, has completely shattered the essence of secularism and democracy, he alleged.
Sotinkumar went on to convey that, the first phase will conclude on August 14.The 2nd phase of the Nationwide campaign will be conducted from August 16 to 30 while a mass rally for Delhi will be flagged off from INA complex at Moirang on September 11.It will culminate with a protest demonstration on October 12 at Parliament Street in the National capital.
On October 13, another rally which is solely for the representatives of the Manipur State Council, CPI and people from the State, will be held at the National Capital as the end of the third phase campaign, he also informed.
