DRI nabs three with gold biscuits worth over Rs 1 crore

Imphal, August 01 2018:
Acting on a specific information received, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Imphal Regional Unit conducted search operation in and around Thangal Bazar and recovered 24 pieces of gold biscuits of foreign origin weighing 3984 grams worth Rs 1.18 crore from the possession of three persons, namely Dhirendra Jha of Bihar, Pradip Samui and Sisir Midya of West Bengal yesterday.
They were arrested under Customs Act 1962 and were produced before the Deputy Magistrate, Imphal West and are in judicial custody.
Further investigation is on to nab other individuals involved in the 'smuggling' of gold, said a statement of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Regional Unit Imphal today.
