Imphal, August 01 2018:
At least 27 students who scored above the required cutoff mark have been left out of the selection list for admission to Bachelor of Arts in the Dhanamanjuri University, said students of DM College of Arts during a press meet at Manipur Press Club today.
The University which is all set to start its first academic session conducted the Common Entrance Test for admissions to BA in the University and GP Women College on July 2 and the results were declared on July 11.According to sources, a total of 1,000 students were selected and of the total 500 are UR, 310-ST, 17-OBC and 20- SC.
According to the students, at least 27 OBC students who scored above the cut off mark have been left out of the selection list.
The cut off mark for OBC candidates is 39.The alleged irregularities surfaced when the authorities uploaded the consolidated merit list on the website of the University yesterday.
The consolidated merit list released yesterday after 20 days has revealed that there are "irregularities" in the selection process, said the student and added that the list was uploaded on the website only after the students blocked Administrative Block for nearly 20 minutes yesterday.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) too denounced the Common Entrance Test alleging irregularities in the selection process and warned that it will ban admission processes.
It is sad that the authorities concerned have failed to conduct an error free Common Entrance Test for admissions to Bachelor of Arts in the University, said general secretary AMMSO Pusham Javed Ahmed during a press meet at Hatta today.
Such act has demoralised the students, said AMMSO and warned that it will ban the admission processes if the authorities concerned fail to look into the matter and produce the wrongs that have been done in the selection process at the earliest before the public.
