Imphal, October 31:
Calling upon the Nagas to decide and out-rightly admit the reality, the Khaplang group of the NSCN has strongly urged the prominent Naga organizations including the Naga Hoho not to be lopsided in their approach towards reconciliation of the warring Naga factions.
A statement faxed by the NSCN(K) said it was the NSCN(K) which had adopted a singular approach to retain peace and unity between the warring groups and it was the "terrorist" NSCN(I-M) which rejected the same.
It is left to the Nagas to decide "what is what" and what it is like living under the dictats of a terrorist group, said the statement.
The NGOs like the Naga Hoho, Naga People's Movement for Human Rights, Nagaland Baptist Church Council, NMA, Naga Students' Federation and others were delivered official letters signed by SS Khaplang in as early as 1995 to work out procedures for peace and amalgamation of the two groups, The blatant opposition from the Isak-Khodao group is not an itsy-bitsy story, the statement said.
M Vero, Naga Hoho president, has in his possession dozens of such letters from SS Khaplang.
He had been to Bangkok thrice or more and each time returned home with no response from Isak-Khodao group.
He should make public the outcome of the meetings with Isak rather than issuing "insane" statements through the media, said the NSCN(K) statement.
Charging the NGOs of being tilted towards the NSCN(I-M), the statement said from 1995 till date, the NSCN(K) has lost more than a thousand of its cadres in the "ruthless terror" unleashed by the Isak-Khodao group the motive of which is still murky, while these NGOs were seen keeping silent.
The call for unification should be even-sided; the NSCN(I-M) should have the same intention, said the statement.
Clarifying that its "present policies" would not be reversed unless the NSCN(I-M) group reciprocates its unification approach, the statement further said the NGOs should not bargain peace without "vision and reality" now that the NSCN(K) is trying to bring peace at all costs.
