Imphal, October 31:
The cease-work strike launched by the employees of the Manipur State Road Transport Corporation(MSRTC) has been suspended from 5.30 pm today till November 14, the JAC of the MSRTC employees said in a release.
It however threatened to resume the strike from 5.30 am of November 19 if the salaries are not paid by November 14.According to the JAC, the decision was taken after considering the goodwill and warm gesture of the secretary of transport during a meeting yesterday in which the transport director and managing director of MSRTC were also present.
During the meeting, the transport secretary assured the JAC of paying salaries for some months, appealing to the latter to withdraw the strike.
The action being taken up by the management and the government for revitalization of the corporation was also made known to the JAC, the release said.
Meanwhile, the All Manipur Transport Department (MV) Employees' Union has objected to the decision of the government to absorb a good number of the MSRTC employees into the transport department.
The union, in a release, said the decision is unfair insofar as a number of posts in the transmit department had already been abrogated, to the dissatisfaction of the department employees.
