Tension in Jessami, subsides, MR deployed

The tension which prevailed in border area of Manipur and Nagaland at Jessami village has finally cooled down along with deployment of Manipur Rifles personnel at the border village.
Tensions erupted at Jessami village following beating up and abduction of six Jessami villagers by villagers from neighbouring Meluri village of Nagaland on April 18 .
Soon after, the tension was brought under control with timely intervention of the state government.
However, tension rose again with Meluri villagers burning down vast tracts of paddy fields and Loutangshang belonging to villagers of Jessami villagers in retaliation for similar act of arson committed by Jessami villagers.
Reports received from Jessami village revealed that a meeting was conducted at the AR post stationed at Jessami west today.

The meeting was attended by the SP and DC of Phek district of Nagaland with their counterparts of Ukhrul district, Manipur.
The volunteers of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) from Manipur and the members of Pochura People's Forum (PPF)from Nagaland were also present during the meeting.
