Imphal, April 30 2012:
The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has also joined in the cry for justice for late Richard Loitam while vehemently condemning the murderous act committed against him, and demanded that the Manipur government to leave no stone unturned in the case.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao on Monday afternoon, TKS general secretary Mahirah Raihing said the Northeast people have been for long meted out with different forms of exploitation in the metro cities of India and for how long we can tolerate the inhuman acts.
"There has been a frequent incident of rape, torture and other forms of racial profiling against the Northeasterners.
Should we still simply sit and watch?" he questioned.
Insisting that the state government must act on the matters, Raihing appealed to the authorities to seriously take up Richard's case and deliver justice to his bereaved family.
The TKS also argued that the Northeasterners including several boys and girls from Manipur have suffered enough in the past years but follow-up on their cases have never been satisfactory and inconclusive."This is not the time now for us to sit and simply the watch the whole injustices.
The Northeasterners and all communities from Manipur must join hands and fight against such injustices," it appealed.
In Richard's untimely death, the student body said the state has lost yet another bright student and extends condolence to the bereaved family.
The TKS also condemned the molestation of a Tangkhul woman at Sikanderpur in Gurgaon on April 27 .
"The cases as such are continuing to pile up with police refusing to take timely action.
The Northeast MPs should pay greater attention to such matter," it said.
Meanwhile, the student's body appealed to the insurgent groups to refrain from any kind of interferences in the normal functioning of the schools and recruitment innocent school children.
