Imphal, April 11 2022:
All Manipur Quarry Association along with different workers' bodies have warned of launching agitation from April 15 if the government does not lift the ban on stone and sand quarrying.
Addressing a press meet at the complex of commerce and industries department, Lamphelpat here on Monday, Association secretary Moirangthem Mangoljao said that the government is enforcing ban on stone and sand quarrying following a court order and machineries like excavators are being seized.
However, the government is giving free hands to major construction companies working on different projects including national projects.
Terming the differential treatment as a biased nature on the part of the government, he demanded the government to either lift the ban on local quarries or to enforce the ban on construction companies as well.
He also said that they will launch a series of intense agitations from April 15 onwards if the government fails to take up necessary steps before the specified date.
