Imphal, November 28 2023:
All Zeliangrong Students' Union Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) has expressed concern over the tense situation in Zeliangrong inhabited Tamenglong and Noney districts.
In a release, AZSU-AMN president D Stephen Zeme lamented that despite appealing to shun violence on several occasions and for maintaining peaceful co-existence within the Naga families, Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and NSCN (IM) and other Naga political groups operating in the region are still trying to take advantage of one another.
It is very unfortunate that Lungningdai alias Wilson Kamei, son of Khundailung Kamei of Tupul, an NSCN (IM) cadre was taken captive by ZUF cadres in Tupul area and on Monday around 10 am.
Stating that this cycle of conflict between NSCN (IM) and ZUF is a grave concern for Zeliangrong community, the student body appealed to ZUF to release the captured NSCN (IM) cadre without any harm on humanitarian ground in the truest spirit of oneness and brotherhood.
"Both NSCN (IM) and ZUF are entering into official political negotiation with the Government of India for fulfilling our protracted issue.
In the midst of this crucial juncture, attacking each other will bear no fruits in our struggle," the Union cautioned.
