Constitution of India in Meitei Mayek released

Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday released the diglot edition of the Constitution of India as part of the Constitution Day observance held at CM's Secretariat.
Constitution Day is celebrated across the country on November 26 every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the release of the diglot edition of the Constitution of India in Meetei Mayek is a historic moment for all the people of Manipur.
He stated that the Indian Constitution is the world's longest written Constitution admired across the world for its broadness, inclusiveness and tolerance.

N Biren appreciated the officials of the Law Department and other persons concerned for their contribution in translating the Constitution to Meetei Mayek.
The Chief Minister further appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Central leaders for their far-sighted vision while recalling the implementation of Inner Line Permit System, renaming of Mount Harriet in Andaman as Mount Manipur,naming of the third ship of the Visakhapatnam-class stealth guided missile destroyer of the Indian Navy as INS Imphal and the lifting of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from certain jurisdictions of the State.
During the programme, the Chief Minister distributed certificates of appreciation to officers and transcriber/translators for their contribution in coming up with the translated edition of the Constitution.
The Chief Minister also led the others present in the programme in pledge taking by reading out the Preamble in Manipuri.
Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan, Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar, Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo, MLAs Thongam Shanti, Thangjam Arunkumar, Chief Secretary Dr.Vineet Joshi, Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board Dr Usham Deben and senior Govt officials also attended the programme.
